New internship project starting

News date:
Monday, 17 August, 2015

Starting from today the DH group will host the intern Angelo Basile, who will work for a month at a project related to natural language processing applied to Dante's literary work. The project has two main goals:

  1) building a PoS-tagger and morphological analyzer for the 14th century Italian language

  2) explore how the computational analysis of linguistic data can support traditional research (in particular, cultural history and literary critics).

The first job will be approached starting from an annotated version of Dante's complete corpus. The second one will rely on tools and techniques coming from traditional NLP and information retrieval research. The focus will be on the concept of "love" in the Divine Comedy. The models and the analyses produced during the internship will be made available on this site.
