Title: “A linguistic analysis of conversational agents”

Abstract: In literature there are a few studies which are concerned with evaluating the apparent naturalness of conversational agents dialogue. According to Lester et al. (2004), conversational agents integrate computational linguistics techniques with the communication channel of the Web to interpret and respond to statements made by users in ordinary natural language. In this work a corpus, made by human-chatbot conversations, was analyzed in order to establish which criteria have to be considered in the linguistic evaluation of a conversational agent. The purpose was to understand which aspects of the machine dialogue should be improved to obtain the fluidity in the language.
