The short paper “Semantifying the UK Hansard (1918-2018)” authored by Federico Nanni, Stefano Menini, Sara Tonelli and Simone Paolo Ponzetto has been accepted at the ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries, that will take place June 2-6 2019 at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. The paper is one of the outcomes of our long-term collaboration with the Data and Web Science group at University of Mannheim

Abstract:
The transcripts of UK parliamentary debates, offered by the Hansard Online digital collection are a major resource for historians and political scientists. To foster their use in research, we provide a) semantic annotations of over one hundred years of debated motions in the form of disambiguated and entity-linked speakers, b) topic annotations, and c) topical-clusters of the most frequently addressed issues.
